description In this work, a method was developed for the determination of phosphorus in legumes using the Visible Ultraviolet Spectroscopy technique. The methodology for the preparation of samples and reagent solutions was taken from AOAC 915.11 obtaining good results for the analyte studied. For the development of the method, parameters such as linearity, sensitivity, limits of detection and quantification, accuracy and precision are taken into account. Before applying the method in legume samples, the accuracy of the methodology was established by the process of fortifying additions with a phosphorus standard in a sample of corn flour, the limits were established based on publications of similar works.
