The mechanism mainly includes that ferroptosis can trigger iron-dependent accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS) and consumption of plasma polyunsaturated fatty acids. Though there are numerous studies on stroke, studies on the effect of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of stroke are very few. This article reviewed the advances in ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.
