Description
Summary:Since its discovery cyclic steam injection has been regarded as one of thermal oil recovery methods of more efficient for the production of heavy oil and bitumen, because of its easy implementation, functionality and relatively low costs. However, there are a number of operational problems, which if not prevented or treated adequately may significantly increase operating costs and oil exploitation. For this reasons, this paper presents a review of the major operational problems that occur during the development of the cyclic steam injection and have been reported in the literature. Moreover, raises various alternative solutions that were reported in the camps to solve or to control these problems.
