| Summary: | This article identifies and compares the federalist position of former editor Claude Ryan of the Montreal newspaper Le Devoir with the independentist position of former editor Lise Bissonnette. An analysis of their editorials shows that their divergent positions did not stem from their respective view on nationalism. Quite the contrary, both pass over in silence the question of Quebec nationalism and both their positions are rather in continuity with one another than in rupture. |
