description We report a case of a 12-year-old female with a history of cystic fibrosis presenting to a pediatric tertiary care hospital with acute respiratory distress and subglottic mass on flexible laryngoscopy. Direct laryngoscopy and rigid bronchoscopy revealed a pedunculated subglottic mass with near complete obstruction of airway. The mass was removed and final pathology was consistent with Aspergillus fumigatus without evidence of vascular invasion. She was placed on Voriconazole based on the limited literature that was available. Interval airway evaluation six weeks after the initial surgery demonstrated complete resolution of her disease process with confirmatory negative biopsies. To date, there are no reported cases of primary subglottic aspergilloma. We present a detailed report of this patient's management and provide a review of the literature regarding fungal infections of the airway.
