| Summary: | The Third Congress National Medical took place in Cartagena in 1918. The present workaims to investigate how the trade presses of the city registered speeches, actors andpresentations from this event. A search of references of the event on the local press,national publications of the program and presentations of the event was done. Theproblem is approached from the perspective of historical sociology and social history ofideas. It shows how the press was an expeditious vehicle of medical knowledge and howinsures its scientific authority and political interference in public health and hygiene.RESUMEN:El Tercer Congreso Médico Nacional se realizó en Cartagena en 1918. El presentetrabajo tiene por objetivo investigar cómo la prensa comercial de la ciudad registró losdiscursos, actores y ponencias de ese evento. Se hizo una búsqueda de las referenciasal evento en la prensa local cartagenera y en las publicaciones nacionales del programay las ponencias. El problema es abordado desde la sociología histórica y la historia socialde las ideas. Se muestra como la prensa fue un medio expedito del saber médico quevisualiza y afirma su autoridad científica e ingerencia política en materia de higiene ysalud pública. |
