Summary:This paper has as main objective to demonstrate the contribution of Immanuel Kant to the formation of what we now treat as a principle of human dignity. Th erefore, we will analyze the criticism made by Kant the philosophical school utilitarian captained by Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. Analyze will also Kant’s moral philosophy in relation to the idea of the categorical imperative, which is achieved with the universalization of maxims and treatment of man as an end in itself and not as a means of maximizing the general happiness. Th e contribution of Kantian moral philosophy for development of theoretical bases of a pillar of legal science, the dignity of the human person, as open assumption of achievement.
