description This article aims a reflection on a Latin American School of International Relations theory. This paper draws upon Raúl Bernal-Meza's study América Latina en El Mundo: El pensamiento latinoamericano y la teoría de relaciones internacionales (2005), taken as a reference that illustrates the importance of the historical perspective for the analysis of a tradition of thought embedded in a regional context. We present an analysis of the contribution of Hélio Jaguaribe, whose work provides analytical tools for understanding of international dynamic of Latin America.
