The diagnostic features ofthe new species of Mariliasuchus are related to increased stoutness of the skull, wich is high, short and posteriorlly wide;the posterior region of the skull is almost as high as wide. The rostrum is straight, high, and rectangular in cross-section,with a convex dorsal surface, bearing no signs of a antorbital fenestrae. The orbits are large and laterally positioned in the skull.
