| description | In Kutadgu Bilig, Odgurmış defined as awakened which means quit from physical

subject in studies in different disciplines. Odgurmış generally accepted as the one who
abstracted from social and political events, specially in Buddhist culture. In this paper we are
going to analysis him in the base of old Turkish culture and Turkish mythology and try to find
position of the character in Turkish culture and Turkish ideology. Odgurmuş generally
explained as a character of Buddhism or Islamic culture but we think he has features which can
explained by Turkish ideology and culture. This paper try to portray the position of Odgurmış in Turkish ideology and mythology. There are parallel ways between events and heroes of Turkish
legends and Odgurmış’s character. Introduction section is consideration of papers about
Odgurmış. This paper is different from others which focused on Odgurmış. Researchers defined
him as ostracised and isolated personality, but actually he has a knowledge to raise the
government which almost fall down. In this paper going to say that Odgurmış is not
multicultural, he is representation of Turkish culture and life style which create sources of
Turkish ideology. Odgurmış is a product of Turkish culture and ideology. This idea going to be
explained by comparison of linguistic/historical/cultural/mythological sources. The hero of
multicultural Yusuf’s “Odgurmış”, bear the trace of Turkish culture and ideology and this is
going to be shown by testimony of Kutadgu Bilig. The dialogue of Odgurmış in “Kutadgu
Bilig” reflect Turkish culture and ideology, this situation going to be tried evaluate with the
perspective of Turkish mythology. |
