Summary: | This article analysis and compares two experiences of reuse of public property unused spaces, promoted by associations and groups of citizens in two important Italian cities (Milan and Naples). Through innovative processes, carried out with an energetic, provocative and incremental approach these subjects have given a new identity and form to some “suspended spaces”. The communities reached an urban and social regeneration by strengthening the sense of belonging of the inhabitants, influencing the work of the local public institutions and changing the functional and physical nature of these spaces. |
