The ultimate goal of this paper is to analyze the reasons for the success of the Progressive Conservative party during the general elections of 1984 and 1988, as well as to draw attention to Conservative decisions aimed at resolving the question of Quebec (the Meechlake and the Charlotettown accords), and to clarify the major directions of the party's activity to enhance its social and regional electoral base during the above mentioned period. |
