| description | Daily commuting and mobilities linked to work have undergone a lot of changes over the last decades in France. Nowadays, they can take a very wide variety of forms, whether they be related to the growing diversification of the places of work, the increasing home to work distance or to its temporalities (weekly work schedules, staggered working hours and commuting trips). The Rhone-Alpes household travel survey carried out between 2012 and 2015 offers a statistical support to characterise different atypical mobility behaviours and the social, demographic, and professional profiles of the active population concerned. First, we present the methodology. Then we present results concerning five atypical work related trips groups defined by its spatial dimension: having no fixed place of work, work far from home, work outside the Rhone-Alpes region; and its temporal dimension: arriving at workplace early in the morning, going back from workplace lately in the evening. The impact of the atypical home to work trips on the daily mobility and activities appears to be strong, as well is the automobile dependence of the concerned working populations. The daily mobilities of these groups are submitted to severe constraints. |
