Description
Summary:A numerical model for dynamic analysis of dry-stone masonry and reinforced-concrete structures, based on the combined finite-discrete element method (FEM/DEM), is presented in the paper. This model describes behaviour of such structures when exposed to dynamic load, crack initiation and propagation, energy dissipation mechanisms due to non linear effects, inertial effects due to motion, contact impact and achievement of the state of rest as a consequence of energy dissipation mechanisms in the system.
