Description
Summary:to determine the incidence of pericardial effusion at the 9th gestational    age in normal pregnant women, we performed echocardiography in 50    normal pregnant women at the end of pregnancy and then 6 weeks after    delivery.           The results showed that 22% of pregnant women had mild to moderate    pericardial effusion ,that were resolved completely in all cases 6 weeks    after delivery.Pericardial effusion was significantly more prevalent in    primigravids and there was no relationship between maternal age and it’s    occurance.           In view of this study, we recommend that in case of larger than    moderate pericardial effusion or effusions that persist 6 weeks or more after    delivery, a complete workup for pericardial effusion must be done.
