Summary:The aim of this study was to constitute an actual source for researchers who are interested in burnout syndrome among nurses, provide information about the burnout syndrome experienced by nurses, and compile coping strategies for burnout. Several sources, which were listed in the foremost indexes, such as Clarivate Analytics Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, and Medline, were examined and a literature review was conducted. As a result, prevalence, causes, catalysts, consequences, aggravating factors and coping methods for nurse burnout were identified. Moreover, preventive strategies for nurse burnout were determined. Finally, assessments were made in terms of future research.
