description Recently, an important consensus article has been published for the work of the editors of biomedical journals (1). Scientific editors play a central and key role in the editorial process of journals whose function is to disseminate research results in health areas. However, little is known about the training needs of those members so that they clearly and transparently fulfill that role. In general, not only in Colombia but even in the developed world, there is no formal school of editors of health sciences journals (2). Although they do not have formal training, many of them have been teachers who have trained in epidemiology, have worked as researchers, have been in charge of a research group and have been tutors. A path sometimes misunderstood and that, in the case of our faculty, has been taken into account for just a few deans.
