Encouraged by the recognition of the relative safety of ERCP and endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES) for gallstone pancreatitis, endoscopic therapy is now being applied in the setting of acute pancreatitis of other etiologies, chronic pancreatitis, complications of acute or chronic pancreatitis, and pancreas divisum.
