Description
Summary:It is my honor and privilege to comment on the launch of this new journal in organ transplantation—the “International Journal of Organ Transplantation Medicine”—conceptualized by Professor Seyed Ali Malekhosseini, Shiraz University of Medical Science and Fellow of the Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences. He and his esteemed colleagues have made an imprint in the globalization of organ transplantation. The culmination of his efforts was clearly seen in the most successful congress of the Middle East Society of Organ Transplantation cast of surgeons, internists, coordinators, researchers and trainees with diverse and timely selection of critically important topics. This journal will serve as an avenue for global communication in the clinical, scientific, ethical, and education advances in the areas that are of interest to us all. In addition, the journal will serve as a very important means of preserving the history of regional organ transplant forums, with publication of abstracts from national and regional congresses. It is critical that we supportthis fledgling journal in order to diversify the literature to include new perspectives, new contributors and new topics. The Editorial Board will be powerless to shape and strengthen the Journal without receipt of the best original and review articles. This responsibility rests primarilywith those involved in the field and with an interest to see this venture succeed.
