| Summary: | The article discusses the use of structures, protivopo-representative-negative value in the stories AP Chekhov. Particular attention is drawn to the opposition as a special artistic technique that the writer uses in his works. Details are described cases of strengthening structures with contrastive-negative value in the stories AP Chekhov. The analysis of catalogs compiled by the author (more than 100 examples), Cherutova AV by empirical (observation, description) and theoretical (induction, deduction) forms the philological analysis of a work comes to the conclusion that the syntax, intended to express the negative- contrastive values in the stories AP Chekhov, acquire different semantics, helping create a certain artistic images.
