Questo studio, basato sull’analisi sintattica di versioni scolastiche dal latino a opera di studenti liceali, si propone di delineare delle tendenze appartenenti a tale tipologia di testi, con l’intento di dimostrare come il codice linguistico risultante da questi brani si differenzi dall’italiano comunemente scritto e parlato – italiano standard – e si basi su norme proprie e artificiose che rendono la produzione testuale un semplice esercizio traduttivo e non la creazione di un brano autonomo e a se stante.
The Italian language used as translation for Latin texts in schools
Careful attention is paid to the topic of text translation within the field of linguistics. However, it is true that the translation of classical languages, widely considered as “dead languages”, is still unexplored. This study is based on the syntactic analysis of scholastic translations from Latin by high school students and proposes to outline the patterns of this text typology. The paper intends to demonstrate how the linguistic code derived from these texts differentiate from common written and spoken Italian, and thus is based on specific and artificial norms that make this type of textual production a simple translation exercise rather than the creation of a self-standing and autonomous text. |
