It is argued that the author himself reads his texts too �immanently', that he paints static portraits of scholars while discarding development, that an either-or picture is drawn in which such overriding concern for an �immanent�-historical opposition is manifested that the result is an oversimplified presentation with apologetic overtones, and that the criteria for inclusion in the hook are applied arbitrarily. |
