Summary:The main epidemiological indicators of tuberculosis were studied in children and adolescents in Russia over the past two decades, the work done in groups at risk for the disease was characterized, and its efficiency was analyzed. The results of introducing a procedure to detect tuberculosis in children were summarized using innovative technologies both in the antituberculosis service and during screening of the pediatric population older than 8 years of age.The author defined new problems in phthisiopediatrics with the advent of multidrug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, HIV infection in patients with tuberculosis and with the necessity of revising the approaches to preventing it in the risk groups and to treating children with this disease. She showed the importance of the tuberculosis problem and the need for continuing researches of these issues.
