Summary:The present paper aims to improve ultrasound diagnosis of diseases of blood vessels of the head and neck in Ukrainian health care institutions by discussing and adopting the standards for examination.The practical guidelines for ultrasound duplex scanning of blood vessels of the head and neck have been developed on the basis of analysis of foreign sources on recommendations and standards in this field, taking into account the experience of national specialists.We have presented for discussion the indications for the examination, the basic stages of the structural pathology diagnosis, assessment of hemodynamic changes in major vessels of the head and neck for obligatory and additional testing, proposals on formalization of the examination protocol.The approval and implementation of the standards into clinical practice in Ukraine will make it possible to avoid inconsistency in conducting and interpreting ultrasonography and angiology tests.
