Description
Summary:Don Juan is a myth that many of us know very well. The common interpretation of this myth is that Don Juan is a lecherous or indecent man who deceived young girls with the promise of marriage. Kierkegaard is the modern thinker who focuses on its spiritual essence, leaving aside the entire false historical content of this mythical approach. According to Kierkegaard, Don Juan should be considered in the context of the difference between his two main presentations. These are the comedy Don Juan and Mozart's famous opera Don Giovanni. In the first of these, Don Juan is described as a lecherous like in the classical myth and is ridiculed. In the second, Don Juan reaches his original character in the pure and direct spirit of music. For Kierkegaard, this character is the most transcendent form or ideal of sensuality. Moreover, this ideal is the aesthetic ideal of life.
