| Summary: | Background: Oral Cuniculatum Carcinoma is a rare entity in the spectrum of Squamous cell carcinoma, characterized by its lack of cytological atypia and locally infiltrative features. Very few cases have been reported since its first description in 1954 and are often associated with a high misdiagnosis rate. Case presentation: We report a case of a lingual cuniculatum carcinoma in a 74 years old male patient that was first misdiagnosed as a verruquous carcinoma. Conclusion: The lack of awareness of specific cuniculatum carcinoma features contributes to its suggested low incidence and scarcity in literature. Therefore correlation of clinical, radiological and histological findings is essential for the diagnosis and the appropriate treatment. |
