description | The purpose of this study was to investigate job satisfaction problems faced by employees in Manufacturing Small to Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). A qualitative research methodology was utilized to carry out the study. Interviews were conducted on 50 participants who were selected from MSMEs in Masvingo urban. Thematic data analysis method was employed to analyze data. The study established that job satisfaction among MSMEs employees was extremely low and needed to be addressed as prompt as possible so as to reduce its negative ramifications to MSMEs. MSMEs’ poor financial performance, operating in distressed economic environment, failure by management to develop strategies of propelling employee satisfaction, unitary approach to labor relations, social problems, failure to develop a safe and secure work environment were some of the impediments to job satisfaction. The study concluded that job satisfaction challenges are some of the key issues that need to be addressed since they directly affect organizational performance and growth. |
