description The analysis of Kyrgyz folklore was done by various researchers. Present work is dedicated to the somatism lexis, transmitting a whole range of images, concepts and associations that reflect the peculiarities of the world view and the world perception of the ancient people. The names of body parts – somatism – belong to the oldest parts of the vocabulary, which evolved over the millennia and reflected the ancient knowledge of man about himself and his body. In a large number somatisms were used by storytellers in the performance of their national epics. The article considers the concept of «somatisms», examples of somatisms in the physical description of heroes of the Kyrgyz epic «Manas», «Kurmanbek», «The Legend of Sarinzhi Buky» are represented.
