These representations could result in distortions reducing the Andes to a space inhabited by savages and ignorant people, if as scholars, we are not aware of the hierarchical relationships in which we are embedded. Therefore, the humanitarian witness that we become when we work with post-war communities must assume the role of someone who speaks for and not with war victims. This will allow us to avoid reproducing the hierarchies of power and domination we originally intended to fight. |
