description This paper compares Tagore’s thoughts on truth and nationhood with those of Nietzsche and Einstein. As against Einstein’s definition of truth independent of human agencies, Tagore opines that truth is defined and interpreted by human exigencies, and, otherwise, truth cannot prevail. Likewise Tagore’s sense of nationhood ls based on a comprehensive realization of the human potentialities, which is different from Nietzsche’s Eurocentric critique of nationalism. It also deals critically with Tagore’s mysticism.
