description Aim: to study long-term outcomes of treatment of nodular goiter, depending on the initial pathology and the volume of surgical intervention. In the late postoperative period ultrasound changes in thyroid tissue after subtotal resection of both lobes observed in more than half the patients. Adequate replacement therapy can maintain euthyroid status of patients, even after thyroidectomy, and postoperative hypothyroidism can not be regarded as a complication, as well as a logical outcome of major resection of thyroid tissue.
