| description | This article aims to discuss relevant aspects related to indication criteria for brief psychodynamic psychotherapy with children and parents. It makes a survey of the criteria adopted by authors who have studied this subject and stands out the necessity of taking in account not only the patient characteristics but also the therapist ones, and those of the context where the psychotherapy takes place. As for the patients, it suggests to be considered among the indication criteria: level of the child dependence, type and intensity of the parents expectations related to this child, how much the parents see themselves as involved in the problem, possibilities of the parents to tolerate changes, possibilities to establish a therapeutic alliance, psychic conditions and level of development of the child. |
