description The purpose of the study was to estimate the medical care for cancer patients in the Amur region from 1999 to 2014. Material and methods. The study was based on cancer register data collected at the Oncology Dispensary of Amur region and covered the period 1999 to 2014. Results. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women of the Amur region, accounting for 20.8 % of all cancer cases. In 2013, the breast cancer incidence rate was 52.8 per 100,000. The incidence rate for breast cancer increased by 36.4 % from 2003 to 2013, the overall rise being 2.2 %. The mortality rate decreased from 20.3 % in 2003 to 17.3 % in 2014. Cancer care in rural areas of the Amur region is worse than in Blagoveshchensk, which is the regional administrative center. The one-year mortality rate in rural areas is 1.3 times higher than that in the city. The one-year mortality rate is 1.3 times higher in rural areas than in the city, and is 1.2 times higher in the Amur region than in the Russian Federation. Conclusion. Appropriate treatment and prevention measures are recommended for further improvement of medical care for breast cancer patients in the Amur region.
