description The integrated energy system (IES) with combined heat and power (CHP) generation units is regarded as an effective way to improve energy efficiency. The installation of hybrid energy storage can further improve the system’s economy. This paper proposes an optimal sizing method for electrical/thermal hybrid energy storage in the IES, which fully considers the profit strategies of energy storage including reducing wind curtailment, price arbitrage, and coordinated operation with CHP units, etc. The minimum energy cost of the system in the energy storage life cycle is taken as the objective function. Meanwhile, the power constraints connected with the distribution network/district heating network and the two-part price mechanism are considered. The results in the case study show the effectiveness of the approach.
