description | In this article I analyze some interpretations of the work of Guillermo Enrique Hudson in the Chilean phase of Babel magazine. I propose that the canonization of Hudson undertaken by Enrique Espinoza was a strategy to rethink Latin American cultural identity in the global context of World War II, which had, nonetheless, a national-popular accent. Hudson´s decisive Americanization and universalization came with the interpretations contributed by non-Argentine collaborators of Babel. To comprehend the signification of Hudson´s name and work, I analyze the discourses and the networks that the homage issue projected. |
