Summary:The paper presents the author’s outlook on the process of ensuring the ecological safety, with a particular focus on the ecological culture. The author presented his point of view on the correlation between the ecological culture and the change of awareness of the national security. He also states that the aspect, which conditions a secure development of the society are difficulties in sensibilizing Poles to the role of the natural environment in the social and economic development of the country. In this process there was emphasized the role of the public authorities responsible for promoting ecological education of the children, young people and the whole society. The author stressed that the changes of the model of the ecological culture in our society should influence positively the process of shaping the security of the Polish society in the 21st century.
