description | A series of in-depth interviews carried out with prize winning authors reveals a new form of the literary interview. The sociological interview is neither an ordinary media interview, nor an author’s interview interested in the life or the poetics of the writer. It is rather a form of inquiry seeking to describe the writer’s attitudes toward the literary field and toward strategies of identity construction. The results of this inquiry underline the gap which separates “reality” (i.e. the real attitude of the writer in the situation of the interview) and the literary mythologies concerning the author’s image and status as they are inscribed in our collective imagination. |
