description The paper indicates the probable direction and magnitude of environmental control in its effects on international economic relations, focusing on the prospective impact on economic structure, production processes and efficiency, patterns of trade, commercial-policy responses, industrial location and capital flows, as well as intra-firm logistics and managerial decision making on a multinational scale. The author first analyses industrial structure, competitive advantage and control of the environment. Industrial location and international capital flows are then examined. Finally, the implications for international commercial and financial policy are assessed.   JEL: F13, F18, Q56
