description The key points of structural innovation of a CNC milling machine tool YK2260 Xis introduced.The expressions of the movement of each axis by using modified-roll method for machining hypoid gear are deduced,the coordinates of the setting position,the initial as well as the terminal positions for machining are determined,and its programming procedures is introduced.A cutting experiment is performed on the YK2260 Xfor a kind of hypoid gear used in drive axle for automobile,the result indicates that with the software of modified-roll method installed,applying HFM method,the hypoid pinion would be machined by the 4-axis CNC milling machine tool.The contact area of the machining gear is favorable and satisfies the requirements of design.
