description Introduction. The rapid pace of development and qualitative changes in technology and technology, information society, processes of globalization and the expansion of communication capabilities require a person to continuously update and modernize knowledge, improve their own skills and competences, respond quickly to the needs and calls of the economic system and public relations. All this together proves the need of a person in continuous, continuous education, which not only gives the opportunity to stay in his working city, to realize his professional abilities, to build a career and to provide the necessary level of income, but also to feel comfortable in society. However, the problem of uninterrupted education is much wider, because it provides opportunities not only for the capitalization of human potential, but also creates conditions for the development of cities, territories and even countries. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to analyze the European experience of developing a system of continuous education and its impact on the development of cities and countries in Europe; determining the possibility of borrowing European experience in life-long education organization to ensure integrated urban development in Ukraine. Results. Continuing education has gained a profound value for such institutions as the state, society, world community. For the state – this is a sphere of social policy; for a society – a condition for the reproduction and development of the country’s professional and cultural potential. For a world society, it is a way of solving global problems of mankind. The European Commission’s continuing education program enables people at all stages of their lives to develop the education and training sector in Europe. European education throughout life provides grants for all areas of education and training. It provides organizations, employees and students involved in learning opportunities to work together, learn from each other’s experiences and share experiences from other countries. Consequently, Europe already has a wealth of experience in the development and development of lifelong education programs. Moreover, it is these programs that form the basis for developing strategies for the development of European cities and countries. Conclusions. Throughout life, education does not only serve as an instrument for improving and developing human potential, but also contributing to the socio-economic development of cities and territories of the country.
