Summary: | Based on a survey of households that have built a single-family house using "sustainable construction" (so-called "ecological" materials and high energy performance) in Alsace, this article examines the inclusion of sustainability in "small touches" in suburban spaces. This type of sustainable housing is clearly different from the normative and mediatized model of the Eco-district. The "suburban" type house is presented as a residential model that the respondents have partly inherited from their parents. They are renewing it based on an awareness of environmental issues, reflected in constructive choices and daily practices. The diverse suburban spaces in which the respondents’ projects are set show distinct residential pathways and a plurality of practices of sustainability in the territory. |
