description | The purpose of this article is to study, through a dozen semi-structured interviews, the relations between the transitional justice process and Tunisian professional historians, in a context where very few of them participated in activities of a body, supposed to interrogate Tunisian history for more than sixty years. The conflict between the Instance Truth and Dignity (IVD) and most of the academic sphere crystallized in two stages. First of all, from 2014, the IVD entered into competition with the National Archives for the recovery and the constitution of a fund of documents concerning the years of the dictatorship. Subsequently some members of the IVD, have called for «rewrite history» or have taken a direct stand on certain historiographical issues, provoking the ire of some historians. The sudden media coverage of certain historiographical issues or the issues surrounding the archives has thus allowed some historians to gain access to political networks or the media sphere, accelerating the balance of power between different networks, and participating in a remodeling of academic currents, initiated since the 1990s. |
