Description
Summary:Today it is broadly accepted that the lack of therapeutic adherence is one of the main problems in schizophrenia treatment. High non-adherence rates to antipsychotic medication call into question the efficacy of pharmacotherapy and are related to a worse prognosis of the disease. The purpose of the current report is to give a general overview of the characteristics and the effectiveness of interventions designed to improve medication adherence in schizophrenia. In addition, the available scientific literature on the main aspects of adherence is reviewed in order to examine and conceptualize its characteristics and attributes.
