Description
Summary:This paper considers a distributed control problem for a flywheel energy storage system consisting of multiple flywheels subject to unreliable communication network. There are two control objectives. First, a linear autonomous system is adopted as the command generator which generates the power command for the flywheel energy storage system, and the total power output of the flywheel energy storage system must meet such power command. Second, the energy levels of all the flywheels should keep balanced. To achieve these two control objectives simultaneously, a distributed average consensus based control strategy is proposed which does not depend on global system knowledge. Moreover, the dynamics of power regulation by the converter are taken into consideration as part of the system dynamics. It is proven that the proposed control strategy can deal with unreliable communication networks effectively. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the proposed control strategy.
