description During the 18th century, after the arrival of the Bourbons, Madrid started being the most important centre where the Spanish Royal Obsequies were celebrated. In the current research about these acts, we focus on the political propaganda and the similarities and differences between the Court and Villa of Madrid. In this sense, the Court used these celebrations to legitimate the new dynasty, meanwhile the Villa looked for showing, in these acts, its splendour and its support for House of Bourbon.
