Summary:The paper presents qualitative and quantitative methods, applicable on environmental risks, and conditions of application. The principles of the two classes of risk assessment methods and the advantages and disadvantages of their application in environmental risk assessment are presented. For both methods, there is a wide range of techniques and tools with applicability more or less specific to certain types of risks. The risk matrix method with its many application forms and examples are presented. Also, it analysed the environmental risk associated thermal plants by risk matrix method.
