| Summary: | The paper analyses the construction of discourses, views and representations about the indigenous societies of Bolivian Amazonia during the rubber boom. From the final decades of the 19th century to the beginnings of the 20th, the vernacular societies held ambivalent relations with the colonization forces (commerce, alliance, armed clashes, etc.). Nevertheless, the images and representations about them were neither stable nor homogeneous, because the Araona, Cavineño, Pacaguara, Caripuna and Chacobo were stereotyped in different ways by their observers. |
