This study examines the case of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, which has advocated camera-monitored examinations through the Zoom application. The objective of this research is to document the conditions under which students conducted these exams, as well as their perceptions regarding certain dimensions of the online assessment. The results of the survey of 396 students indicate that students were not well prepared to take this type of exam, and that many did not have access to favorable conditions, appropriate computer equipment, or Internet connection. Students felt that the use of the webcam and the limited time constraint contributed to their stress during the exam. Half of the respondents were not comfortable being filmed, and they consider it an invasion of their privacy. While limiting cheating is an important issue for students, they believe that the online exam under camera surveillance does not prevent it. |
