| Summary: | This paper analyzes contrastively materials of a parallel corpus of journalistic texts collected in 2002 (year of introduction of the euro) and 2013. We have extracted over 200 lexical units (145 Italian, 61 Spanish), most of them compounds with the prefixoid euro-. This analysis has revealed differences and similarities of the two languages in the area of word formation. The study has been completed with the examination of euro- compounds found in Spanish and Italian lexicographical sources. |
