description Objective To investigate the effect of early rehabilitation exercise combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty on functional rehabilitation and bone mineral density in patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fractures. Methods From February 2020 to February 2022, 122 patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fracture in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University were randomly divided into the control group (n=61) and the research group (n=61). The T-value of bone mineral density was measured with the EXA-300 dual-energy X-ray bone densitometer. The Cobb angle was measured on the lateral film of the vertebral body. The lumbar function was assessed with the lumbar Japanese Orthopaedic Association Score(JOA) scale and the lumbar Oswestry Dysfunction Index (ODI). The pain was assessed with the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), and the self-care ability was measured with the Barthel index scale. Results The T value of bone mineral density, Cobb angle,ODI score and VAS score in the research group was lower than those in the control group 1 month and 3 months after the intervention (P<0.05). The JOA score and Barthel Index were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the research group was 3.28% lower than that in the control group 13.11% (P<0.05). Conclusions Early rehabilitation exercise combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty has a significant effect in the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar compressibility fractures.
